Finish Line Sports celebrates 27th Anniversary by raising $5,000 for Snowdrop Foundation

(6/8/2012)

In a festive celebration just outside the store, Sugar Land Finish Line Sports celebrated its 27th anniversary with a BBQ dinner, music, and a silent auction.  But the biggest draw of the night -- and the one that generated the most entertainment -- was when FLS owner Andy Stewart agreed to have his head shaved if $1000 was donated directly to the Snowdrop Foundation.

Needless to say, the donations poured in fairly swiftly as friends, family members, club members, and customers made short work of the one grand goal -- while several local youth athletes lined up for an opportunity to shave a bit of Stewart's locks.

In addition to the pulled pork BBQ dinner catered by Texas Roadhouse, attendees were also offered numerous beverage options (including beer and wine, for those so inclined) and could bid on a large selection of silent auction items.  The big money item of the night was a guitar autographed by country star Carrie Underwood, which fetched $750 for a winning bid.  Many other "running related" items were also up for grabs, including entries into a full year's worth of FLS sponsored races, USA Fit membership, two youth bikes donated by Bicycle World and Fitness, and lots more.

In all, the evening raised over $5000 for the Snowdrop Foundation, which dedicated to assisting patients and families and Texas Children's Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college-bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors.
