Two Texas sisters walk their way to awards stand
November 1, 2001

by Harry Hall

Among the finishers in the women's 5k at the Turtle Creek Run were sisters and walkers Agnes Ellsworth 82, and Louise Davis, 88. The two native Texans clocked 42:56 and 54:37 respectively to place first and second in the 75-up age group.

"I've been doing this forever," said Louise, commenting on how long she'd been walking.

"I started walking when I lived in New York in 1967," said Agnes, "that was long before it was popular. I did lots of miles. People thought I was out of my mind."

"We just walk 5ks," said Louise, "occasionally we might do 5 miles."

"But no 10ks," added Agnes, "it would be dark by the time we finished."
