Crawford PR nice ending to a busy year
January 1, 2002
by Harry Hall
Chris Crawford's marathon career has come a long way since that
initial effort of 3:20 at San Francisco in 1982. Nineteen years
and 48 marathons later, the new Masters runner is still running
marathons-and setting PRs. "I have no explanation for this," he said shortly after winning
the masters division and taking 4th overall in the 2001 White
Rock Marathon with a time of 2:34:53.
But maybe he does have an explanation. For the first time in his
career, he will average 10 miles a day for an entire year. He's
been logging 80-85 miles per week - and running lots of
marathons. It was in mid-November he ran his sixth marathon in
2001, placing first overall in the Arkansas Marathon, recording
a 2:43 on the hilly course.
