No end in sight for Dallas' William Moore

Although William Moore (pictured) has turned 40, don't
expect him to slow down much. After "only" finishing third at
the White Rock Half-marathon November 3, he said, "I just
couldn't do it at the end. Maybe it's age. No, I won't play the
age card."His preparation included two weeks of 130 miles and another of
110. His plans are to run Austin's Motorola Marathon in February,
then see what happens. But he has sights set on some American
Masters records, such as Craig Young's 30:30 10k mark. "I ran
30:28 last year," he says, "and the steeplechase record is 9:18,
and I've done 8:53. Last year, the Nationals Masters Mile was
won in 4:21. I think I can be in that mix." Like many other Dallas runners, he is coached by Terry Jessup,
and also gives credit to his training partners, Ernesto
Caballero and Brad Chvatal, who placed fourth and fifth at the
half-marathon. "I need to have someone with me. You can't do the
work you need alone. "I'll keep doing this as long as my body holds up and it's fun
and I'm meeting goals. When that stops happening, I'll go off
quietly."
