The Dallas White Rock Marathon Board of Trustees today announced
that the marathon prize money structure has been expanded for
2005 offering runners a larger total prize purse. The 36th
running of the Dallas White Rock Marathon, benefiting Texas
Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, will take place on Sunday,
December 11, and will reward winners with prize money totaling
more than $75,000, compared to $50,000 in 2004. Texas Scottish
Rite Hospital for Children is the primary beneficiary of the
event and one of the nation's leading pediatric centers for the
treatment of orthopedic conditions and learning disorders, like
dyslexia."For more than 35 years, the Dallas White Rock Marathon has
attracted elite athletes, offering participants and spectators
the excitement of watching some of the fastest marathoners from
around the world," said Chuck Dannis, chairman of the Dallas
White Rock Marathon Board of Trustees. "By increasing the total
prize purse, we will continue to guarantee participation by
extraordinary runners. This year's marathon will continue its
goal of being a great race in a great city, and for a great
cause." According to the new structure, prize money will be given to the
