In addition, there will be a $100,000 bonus for any runner who breaks the Mexican marathon record, and a $1,000,000 bonus for any runner who breaks the world marathon record.

"We are extremely excited to invite participants from the U.S. and Mexico to participate in the ultimate destination marathon event," said Bill Hackett, President of Barton Beers, Ltd., which imports Pacifico Beer into the western United States. "While there, we'll be able to share the beauty of Mazatlan with them."

In addition to the marathon, other events include a 13.1-mile half-marathon beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, and a 10K-road race scheduled for December 2, at 8 a.m. Registration for all three races, which are certified by A.I.M.S. and I.A.A.F., is open.
