American Airlines to Fly Five Runners to Austin for the
July 4th RaceDo you enjoy running, support Junior Achievement and want to
visit Austin, Texas? Now is your chance to win a free trip to
spend July 4th weekend in Austin! Junior Achievement of Central
Texas (JA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching young
people about business, economics and free enterprise, and
American Airlines are joining together to offer runners and JA
supporters throughout the U.S. a chance to win one of five spots
on the Silicon Laboratories Relay All-American Team.
American Airlines will fly the five lucky winners from any where
in the U.S. to Austin with two nights hotel accommodations
provided by the Austin Hyatt Hotel on Town Lake to participate
in the Silicon Laboratories Relay, a 26.2 mile relay benefiting
Junior Achievement. The JA All-American Team will be selected by
a panel of judges based on runners' 50-word submissions on why
they should be a part of this elite team.
"American Airlines is excited to offer athletes from around the
country an opportunity to participate in this fun, charitable
event in Austin, one of the fittest cities in America," said
Shae Butler, American Airlines Austin sales and development
manager.
Commencing at Austin High School and tracing around the famous
and beautiful views of Lake Austin, runners will enjoy Austin's
most beloved trek along Lake Austin Blvd. and Caesar Chavez. The
relay course is divided into two 5Ks, two 10Ks and one 12K
making it ideal for beginner, intermediate and advanced runners.
"Our partnership with American Airlines for this contest offers
runners throughout the U.S. a chance to experience Austin, one
of the most beautiful and fit cities in the country," said Dave
Swincher, president of Junior Achievement of Central Texas. "We
look forward to receiving the creative contest submissions from
runners who will make up the ultimate JA All-American Team."
To enter the contest, runners should submit their nominations at
www.marathonrelay.com by June 3, 2005. Only
one entry is allowed per person and all entrants must be 18
years of age or older as of June 1, 2005. The winners will be
announced on June 15th.
All proceeds from the Silicon Laboratories Relay will go
directly into classrooms to enrich and sustain Junior
Achievement programs that educate today's youth on business and
economics. The Silicon Laboratories Relay is sponsored by
Silicon Laboratories, a leading designer of mixed-signal
integrated circuits (ICs), and RunTex and the Carrozza
