Thieves hit Roger Soler's Sports store
July 8, 2004

Thieves broke into the Roger Soler's Sports store on Jackson Keller earlier this week, essentially wiping the store clean of running shoes.

According to owner Roger Soler, the thieves cut a hole in the roof of the store. At some point, the store alarm was triggered but when police arrived and found the doors locked and everything intact inside, apparently the decision was made that the alarm went off accidentally. This gave the thieves the rest of the night to finish the job.

"They cleared out the store," Soler said. "They had all night to do it."

Soler said that he estimated that the thieves got away with about 400 pairs of shoes.

"They put the shoes in bags and left the shoeboxes, so making an inventory of what was taken shouldn't be hard," joked Soler.

Soler transferred some inventory from his other location to help fill in for the short time.

Soler asked that anyone who may have any information regarding the break-in, theft, or who hears of someone suddenly selling running shoes to please call the San Antonio Police Department at (210) 207-7459.
