Stanford tops men's cross country poll

Stanford University is ranked #1 in the Mondo men's cross country preseason poll by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Cardinal finished as the runner-up at last year's NCAA Championships, losing the title by a single point to the University of Colorado led by individual runner-up Jorge Torres and fourth-place finisher Dathan Ritzenhein.

Stanford has ten first place votes in the preseason poll, with a total of 444 points. Colorado is ranked second in the nation with two first place votes and 427 points.

The University of Arkansas, which placed third at last year's championships, is ranked third with two first place votes and 424 points. The remaining top ten schools in the poll and their point totals are: #4 Wisconsin (406); #5 Northern Arizona (393); #6 Villanova (373); #7 North Carolina State (355); #8 Georgetown (318); #9 Providence (298) and #10 Oregon (296).
